My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi… I’m Luna.

I’m a black and white long-haired tuxedo girl, which means I’m always dressed up in my fancy coat… even though I’ve been waiting over a year for someone to take me home. I watch other cats leave with their families, and I try to be brave when it’s not my turn.

I’m 7 years old — past the wild kitten days, but still full of love and personality. I adore attention. When you pet me, I’ll melt into your hand and close my eyes like it’s the safest place in the world. I love nap time (especially somewhere soft and warm), and I’m friendly… but I’m also independent. I can entertain myself and carry myself like the queen I am.

And yes… I have some sass. Just a little sparkle of spice to keep things interesting. I know what I want, and what I want is to be your one and only. I need to be the only cat in the home — your one true feline love. I promise I’ll give you enough affection, personality, and companionship to fill every corner.

I’ve been here for over a year. That’s a lot of quiet nights and hopeful mornings. My adoption fee has been sponsored because a special person believes I deserve my chance.

I’m still waiting. Still hoping someone sees past the time I’ve been here… and sees me.

Will you let me finally go home?

If you are interested in adopting, please fill put an application online at  ahimsahaven.org . Meet and greets are with an approved application by appointment only.

As always, cats that are ready to be adopted are spayed/neutered, have age appropriate shots, are micro-chipped, dewormed/deflead, and FEL/FIV tested.

Additional adoption info

Our animal listings are updated daily to reflect any adoptions, sometimes even minutes after the adoption. Should you see an animal you are interested in please visit our website (ahimsahaven.org) to fill out an Adoption Application.

As we are an all volunteer organization, we are not able to answer phone/email inquiries about specific cats until your application has been submitted and approved.

Current fees can be found on our website at ahimsahaven.org

Some animals are part of our Take A Chance On Me program and have a small adoption fee. You can see which ones on our website's "Take A Chance On Me" page.

Our adoption fees include spay or neuter, vaccinations. Ahimsa Haven Animal Rescue is a nonprofit organization, so your donations are tax deductible. Our adoption policies are as follows: We require a signed adoption contract, and payment of adoption fee prior to placement. Fee is refundable if the animal is returned within 30 days. We require that the animal be returned to our care, in the event the placement does not work out even if that is many years in the future.

More about this rescue

Ahimsa Haven was incorporated in 1999 as a nonprofit animal rescue group. Our mission is to find good homes for abandoned, homeless and unwanted domestic animals.

Ahimsa is a term from an eastern religion that means "To do no harm, in thought or deed, to any living creature". Every penny we raise goes to the animals - no one gets a salary!
