My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mel was noted to be hanging out with a group of feral street cats in 2024 and was trapped in February 2025.  A vet visit showed that she had previously been spayed, but sadly she was not microchipped.

Mel is understandably shy around new humans. With time she began to roam her foster home, purring and asking for head scratches. She still gets nervous with quick movements, loud sounds, and new people. She will run to her safe spaces to hide, but she comes back realizing that it's safe or that the people she's comfortable with are around.

Mel has exhibited some signs of food allergies.  A hypoallergenic diet seems to have sorted things out, and new foods are being tried in an effort to identify the specific allergen(s) and to allow for a more expanded diet.

After Mel's initial foster family moved away, she was placed with a new foster family in October 2025 where she exhibits the same shy, but sweet, demeanor. While seemingly happy and content, this girl would love to find her forever home.

She would do best in an environment on the quieter side and with plenty of places to hide while she adjusts. She would enjoy being a single kitty, but would do well with other friendly cats given the right introduction. She would likely do well with older, respectful children. Mel doesn't like dogs.

More about this rescue

G.R.A.S.P. stands for Greece Residents Assisting Stray Pets. GRASP's goal is to give animals, primarily those picked up by Greece Animal Control, a second chance for a safe, happy, and healthy life. Before G.R.A.S.P., Inc. was formed, animals that were not claimed by their owners were routinely euthanized. We also strive to educate the public on the benefits of spay/neuter and the need to tag their pets at all times. G.R.A.S.P., Inc. is a non-profit organization and is completely dependent upon donations from the public.
