My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sunny Needs a Hero This young 1 year old, 30 pounds Terrier mix boy has been through a super tough first year that reads like one of those rescue stories that breaks your heart.  Sunny’s is definitely one of those. This sweet boy was abandoned in the middle of nowhere with his family of dogs, left to fend for themselves against the elements, starvation, and predators. Tragically, Sunny was the only survivor. By the time rescuers with Critter Cavalry found him, he was terrified and had to be trapped just to bring him to safety. We don’t know where he came from, but we know what life had been like for him—at best, he was neglected, and at worst, he suffered cruelty. Love, comfort, and security were things he had never known but he does now and he thriving and getting more at ease every day.  He has come so far! The Journey to Trust In his foster home, after much patience and gentle care, Sunny began to trust. At first, he kept his distance, but with space, understanding, and (most importantly) lots and lots of treats, he started to come out of his shell. He found comfort in the other dogs and even the cats in his home, but learning to love people took longer. Over time, he discovered that belly rubs were amazing, snuggling was safe, and that going outside to potty and coming back when called was something he could do without fear. Sunny had been nervous with men but now with a slow approach he is accepting their kindness and petting.  He loves being with the cats especially in the foster home and will sleep with them.  We love that!!!   He looks up to other older dogs and follows their confident actions as we had hoped he would. All Sunny needs is a HERO to give him love and a stable forever home. He needs a true  HERO—someone willing to meet him where he is and show him, day by day, that he is safe and loved. What Sunny Needs in a Home ✔ A quiet, patient, and understanding adopter – Someone who won’t rush him but will let him bloom at his own pace.
✔ A home with another friendly, confident dog – He takes comfort in his canine friends and learns by watching them.
✔ A calm, steady environment – He does best with routine and minimal chaos.
✔ A household without young children under 10 years – He needs a peaceful space where he can feel secure.
✔ A female adopter or a home where he can bond gradually with any of the men – He typically trusts women more easily but is now demonstrating his acceptance of gentle males. ✨ The Reward? Watching a broken soul learn to trust, to love, and to finally be happy. There’s nothing more beautiful than for us to slowly see true happiness and the light come back into Sunny’s eyes.  He is almost there but he does need that final step to someone who is committed to his care and his love.  He is If you have a heart big enough to give this boy the time and love he deserves, please reach out. Sunny is waiting for someone to change his life forever. Could that be you?  Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and let us know more about you and then let’s talk!!!

More about this rescue

We are a group of dedicated rescue people who want to save as many dogs and cats from the local shelters before they are euthanized. On the average....there are only 1 out of 10 animals that get adopted from a shelter. We are dedicated to helping increase pet adoptions by offering a shelter animal a foster home to go to while awaiting an adoptive family to find them. Won't you please adopt a shelter animal? Or won't you please help us foster a shelter animal while we are looking for their perfect home? What a gift you can give a dog or cat by giving them a place to feel safe and secure....a forever home or a foster home. Won't you help us at Critter Cavalry give them a chance to have a life?
