My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 1y4m

Gender: Female

Breed: Terrier mix

Weight: 50

Personality: Smart, super loving, sweet and friendly with people. She is very high energy and needs consistent boundaries inside to house to be on her best behavior. She has no separation anxiety.

Friendliness: Dogs: Selective Cats: No Kids: Unknown

Education: Crate trained and can be in her crate for 5-6 hours. Bathroom trained but needs to be let out every 5-6 hours. She'll whine and give you a warning if she needs to pee, and if not let out, she might pee inside the house. She walks well on the leash but can be leash reactive to dogs, cats, bikes, skateboards, scooters and runners.

Favorite Activities: Running outside, playing with other dogs, playing with people, chasing a ball, chewing on a bone, and tearing up toys and cartons

Looking For: An active family ready for a girl that is smart, wants exercise and snuggles. She will thrive with physical and mental enrichment. No other pets in her house, please. Having a backyard would be great to let out her energy.

Special Needs: Need occasional anti microbial and anti fungal wipe for irritation between or under her toes. Fish oil with dinner.

Adoption Fee: $400

The queen of fun!

Hi, I’m Charlie! I’m a young, 50 lbs, female terrier mix with a ton of energy and a heart full of love. I’m mostly potty trained, crate trained, and I’ve already been spayed. I love learning new things because I’m super smart and thrive on both mental and physical challenges. I might pull on the leash a bit, but that’s just because I’m so excited to go on walks and explore the world with you!

I’m a total sweetheart who just wants to play and get attention (and I might even nibble on your hand if you’re not paying enough attention to me, oops!). I absolutely adore being social! I love playing with other dogs off the leash, but I can be reactive on the leash. No cats or small animals for me as I’ve got a high prey drive and I’m just way too curious! I’d do best with kids 10 and up because I can be a bit hyper and jumpy. I’m definitely a puppy at heart and sometimes I get a little mouthy when I’m feeling playful, but I never mean any harm. I love chewing on bones and toys and can spend hours chasing balls or sticks, but when it’s time to settle down, I’m usually good at calming myself down, especially if you’re there to pet me and keep me company. I’m great when left in my crate too, as long as I’ve got a comfy bed and some toys to keep me occupied.

I need an active family who can give me lots of exercise, long walks, playtime with other dogs, or backyard breaks. I will thrive with training and mental stimulation along with enrichment. I am super duper smart after all! I’m okay being left alone for up to 4 hours, but I’d prefer having someone around most of the time. If you’re looking for a super sweet, playful, and loving dog who’s ready for fun adventures, I’m your girl! Let’s go! My adoption fee is $400 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
