My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

✨Brutus✨

🎂 Approximate birthday: 2/3/14

🦴 Breed: Mix breed - maybe Mastiff/Pit

⚖️ Weight: approximately 94 pounds

💔 This poor guy came in underweight, and no owner ever came forward. He’s gained his weight but now needs to find a retirement home. He is deaf so he absolutely needs a fenced yard and someone who knows how to work with dogs that are deaf. Brutus is an XL breed, and he absolutely needs someone with experience with the caring for them, and their strength.

🐶 He does seem to like other dogs, but due to his size, strength, and being deaf he will not be allowed in a home with smaller dogs.

👧 He has been fine with our dog savvy kid tester. Ashton’s 8 years and has always been around animals since she was born. So, you can always bring your kiddos to meet in person. PLEASE NOTE - Due to his size we will not allow him in a home with children under 12 years unless they’ve had XL dogs previously.

🐱 He has not been tested yet.

✅ He is fully vetted now.

🫀🪱 He is heartworm positive 💔, and we do keep him on monthly preventative for the slow kill method. Anyone interested in adopting must have a plan with their veterinarian for future treatment/prevention.

💲His adoption fee is $175 which includes neuter, vaccinations (Rabies, parvo/distemper/lepto, and kennel cough), heartworm test, heartworm prevention while in our care, and microchip.

🏡 Apply to give him a furever home through our online application

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Muhlenberg county is a non-profit, low budget organization striving to help as many homeless, unwanted animals within our power! We are heavily donation funded and receive very little funding for sources outside of our donors! We try our best to help our community in any way possible,We believe that the best way to help all furbabies in need is to start at the source; to educate and inform owners and potential adopters on the importance of altering your pets, parasite prevention and all the reasons to adopt, NOT SHOP!
