Meet Judah Lewis, a white and brindle Pit Bull Terrier mix with a heart full of love and a story ready for its happy ending. He arrived at Melissa’s Second Chances as a stray alongside his best friend, Lo. Lo has since been adopted — and now it’s Judah’s turn.
Judah is the total package: sweet, affectionate, and endlessly loyal. He adores people, whether it’s one-on-one or with a whole family, and forms strong bonds quickly. During a recent furlough from the shelter, Judah proved just how wonderful he is in a home — he’s fully house trained, has excellent manners, and can free roam without a single issue. He’s a calm, respectful presence who loves to relax after a bit of activity.
With a medium energy level, Judah enjoys walks and playtime but lives for a good cuddle session at the end of the day. He’s dog-friendly with pups of all sizes (he gets along great with his foster’s personal dog) and has been around rabbits, goats, turkeys, and even cows — though he’s still a little suspicious of the latter! He’s also shown curiosity — but no aggression — around cats, and with proper introductions, could potentially learn to live alongside one. Judah absolutely loves people, though he can get excited and jump up, so a home with older children would be a better fit as he continues working on his manners.
Judah can also jump fences — he’s cleared his foster’s a few times, likely in pursuit of a neighborhood cat that piqued his curiosity. The good news? He never runs — he turns right around and comes straight back. That said, he’ll do best with a tall, secure fence or leash walks to keep his adventurous side in check.
Calm, eager to please, and full of heart, Judah is ready to be someone’s best friend. Whether you live in the city or the country, he’ll be happy just to be by your side.
Judah is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, which means you can welcome him into your home on a trial basis before finalizing the adoption. Come meet him at Melissa’s Second Chances — this sweet, soulful boy is ready to find his forever.
