Well now… let me tell you about a cat named Silverback. Silverback’s the kind of tabby who looks you straight in the eye, like he’s weighing your character and deciding if you’re worth his time. Strong build. Solid presence. There’s a quiet confidence about him, the kind you don’t argue with. He’s playful, curious, always wanting to see what you’re up to. He came in rough around the edges. Picked up at a feeding station, carrying a few battle scars on his back and tail. Proof he’s lived a life and survived it. Took him a while to trust, and that kind of trust, once earned, sticks. These days he’s loyal, loving, and sweeter than you’d expect from a fellow with his past. With other cats, he can be a bit bossy at first—likes to establish the rules of the road—but once he settles in and gets to know them, he eases up just fine. He used to nip at feet when folks left the room, more fear than meanness, but that’s behind him now that he’s part of the main household. Turns out what he really wanted was to belong. Silverback likes your voice. Likes being petted. Likes knowing you’re nearby without needing to be glued to you. He wants connection, not possession. He’s soft, handsome, and smarter than he lets on. Not suited for homes with little kids—loud noises rattle him. Silverback’s not just a cat. He’s a companion. And once you’re his person… you’re his person for good.Interested in adopting a companion cat from Texas Animal Society? More about this rescue
Our goal is to promote the health and care of pets in your community through involvement, education and prevention (spay/neuter), to give a voice to the animals in need and to provide a means for others to help in the plight of dogs and cats in need of assistance, care and homes. Through the means of rescue, volunteering and fostering we can help accomplish the ultimate goal of providing quality care and humane lives for dogs and cats in Texas. We strive to work with individuals, county facilities, other rescues and local communities.
Founded in 2011 as MCASociety to support our local animal shelter, we soon learned we should strive to do more and rebranded to Texas Animal Society. Reaching beyond our local shelter to help the community and others as well as our shelter.
TAS is strictly operated by donations. All donations directly benefit animal welfare and care of dogs and cats.
Please consider donating to TAS for the continued rescue efforts and vetting for dogs and cats in need.
