Chase is doing really well! There were a few expected challenges right after bringing him home from the shelter, but he settled in nicely within a couple of weeks.
Temperament & Personality
Extremely social with people — very loving and cuddly.
Loyal, affectionate, and enjoys being near his people.
Medium to medium/high energy level and loves to play — sometimes even more than he enjoys food!
Generally very obedient and eager to please.
Behavior in the Home
Fully house-trained and respectful of the home. He doesn’t chew on shoes, furniture, or other belongings.
Walks very well on a leash and stays focused. He doesn't bark at or get too distracted by squirrels, dogs, etc.
Training & Progress
Initially had some understandable issues adjusting to a new environment.
He was a bit nervous with certain people (especially at night) and would get snippy when sniffing other dogs.
After consistent exposure and obedience training, he has met dozens of people and dogs with zero issues and those initial behaviors have completely subsided.
He is continuing to improve with training and responds very well.
Housebreaking / Separation Anxiety
The only remaining issue is occasional anxious peeing when someone leaves the house due to separation anxiety.
We are actively working on this, and it has already improved significantly
Overall: Chase is a loving, loyal, playful, and cuddly dog with good manners and a wonderful temperament. I think he would make an excellent family dog.
Separate Note: Chase does struggle with some allergies and may be allergic to chicken.
