Meet Eddy, an adorable 2.5 year old terrier mix, weighing around 20lbs, ready to find his forever home! Eddy came to us from Kentucky last fall. He only has one eye, which our vets believe was how he was born. Eddy has been relaxing in a loving foster home while he undergoes Heartworm treatment. He has completed the injections and is in the retesting phase. His next (and hopefully final!) Heartworm test is in October. As long as this is negative, he will be ready to go in for his neuter and find a forever home! He is available to meet potential adopters. If someone is interested in adopting him, we would start with foster-to-adopt agreement while he works on his next heartworm test and neuter. Eddy can be a bit shy, so a calmer home would likely be best for him. Per his foster, he has met some dogs and enjoys playing with the larger ones. He has also met cats, but he wants to play with them, which may not be ideal for most cats. His favorite activities include cuddling, car rides, walks, and playing with toys. He does get a bit nervous around children, so he would be best suited with older children. Let's find this sweet guy his happily ever after!

WCHS is conducting the viewing of our animals by appointment only. The Kennel Adoption Application and Cat Room Questionnaire can be found on our website under the ADOPT tab, then click Adoption Process. Please be sure to review our processes closely before filling out either form.
Once the forms are submitted, management will receive and review them within 24-48 hours. Please understand that our facility is receiving a high volume of request and are doing our best to accommodate as many as possible. Management may not contact you for 3-5 days. You will either be contacted via phone, or email with the findings of our inquiry and/or to schedule your one-on-one viewing appointment with staff.
Please understand that our facility takes the health and safety of its staff and surrounding community very seriously. With that being said, entry to our building is only granted to those who have been pre-approved and have been given a viewing appointment. Walk-in viewing IS NOT an option.

More about this shelter
As Will County’s original no-kill shelter we’ve been serving the area for over 40 years with a single purpose, provide a safe haven for homeless pets and help them find their forever home.
Every day of the year we care for up to 30 homeless dogs and 60 cats looking for their forever homes. We provide for their general health care, shelter and well being through our network of volunteers and resources.
It’s important that you know that we’re a private shelter 501(3)(c) not-for-profit that receives no federal or local government dollars to run our facility and care for pets. In fact the shelter relies on generous donations from people just like you to make it all happen.
