Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Scared, Adorable, Playful, Curious
Von Bek has a stumpy tail (earning her the nickname “Nubs”) and wears her heart on her nose! She really is quite adorable with her heart-shaped nose.
Von Bek is taking her time settling into her new life - first at the shelter and now in her foster home. She has come very far on her journey, and still has more progress coming. New environments scare her, so she wants to make sure things are 100% safe. Now she hangs out with her foster in the home office during office hours - she is her officemate! - but she has her boundaries and doesn’t want anyone coming too close to her. Yet. She’ll let you know when the time is right, and we can’t wait!
She has an assortment of safe spots that she will rotate through - a window where she can watch the birds and lizards, a small and cozy cave where she can tuck herself into, and the small home office to call her own.
Von Bek loves to play with toys! At first she played secretly by herself, but now she will often play while her foster is in the room, though she will keep her distance. Classic Von Bek! She has started interacting with string toys, and sometimes will shove a toy under the door when you are on the other side so that you have to throw it back in. So fun! And terrific progress.
Though she hasn’t warmed up to receiving hands-on affection yet, she will give a quiet little cry when she's feeling lonely and wants to be in your presence! She is open, she just needs time and patience to get there.
When she was in the shelter, Von Bek would cuddle with some of her feline roommates, so it is possible that she would do well with a social and friendly kitty buddy in her new home.
The best home for Von Bek is low-traffic and quiet, with gentle and patient adults and young adults who give her the space and time she needs to open up on her own schedule. At first, she would like a small room of her own, a kitty cave or two where she can hide if she gets overwhelmed, and definitely a window on the world! She will need time to settle in, relax, trust, and get used to her new home and people.
Von Bek is really beautiful with her tan and black tabby markings in a swirl pattern on her back and with mostly white on her tummy. She has a sleeve of markings on one front leg while the other front leg is all white - and all four white feet! She is stunning.
Von Bek is curious and careful, but over time becomes confident. If you are looking for a kitty to help come out of her shell and discover her new, loving life, contact us today to meet Von Bek!
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
