Monte is a delightful, energetic, and loving neutered pit bull mix, weighing about 89 pounds. At around 3 years old, he’s full of life and ready to find his forever home. After undergoing TPLO surgery on his right hind leg, Monte has been cleared for adoption and is feeling back to 100%. Although he has a partially torn cruciate on his left hind leg, his vet advises against surgery unless he shows signs of pain.
Monte enjoys running zoomies in the yard and relaxing with a good chew bone. He gets along well with other dogs his size but plays rough, so future housemates should be at least 40 pounds. He knows basic commands like sit, stay, lay down, go to your crate, and waits for his food until released. His favorite treat is French fries! Monte is crate-trained and will let out a yip when he needs to go outside. He’s excited on a leash but calms down after a while, though he still pulls. His foster parents taught him not to jump and his new family will need to continue to reinforce the behavior, so a home without children under 10 is recommended.
While Monte has been fine with cats from a distance, he seems too interested, and my cats are scared of him. Therefore, a cat-free home is best. Monte loves cuddles and thinks he’s a small lap dog, despite his size.
Monte is fantastic with new people outside the house and is always a hit at the vet. At home, he’s cautious initially but relaxes once introduced by me or my husband. I believe he’ll do the same with his new owners and home. Monte is eager to find a loving family to share his life with!
