My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tigger!

This handsome boy is looking for a loving home to care for him for the rest of his days. Tigger is a lovable 31 flavors mixed breed who we met originally way back in early 2019 when he was just 6 months old. Tigger spent some time with us here before he was adopted into a home who loved him very much. He spent the next five years in the care of his dad, who doted on Tigger and showed him all the love he knew how, but in early 2025 Tigger's dad sadly passed away, leaving a heartbroken Tigger behind. His owner's family did their best to care for him for a couple of months, but Tigger began to develop some intense medical issues that they were unequipped to care for, and they reached back out to us. They told us of the sad situation Tigger had been left in, and that they were struggling to care for him initially even without his condition, and asked us if we would take him in and find him a loving home. With the help of our local Animal Control officer for transport, Tigger entered our care again nearly five years after we had seen him last.

Upon seeing Tigger again, we could see written all over him the suffering he had been through. Not only was Tigger's heartbreak over his owner showing on his face, but he had lost nearly all of his fur due to demodex mange, a non-contagious mange attacking his skin and immune system. Tigger was rightfully terrified, his whole world had been turned upside down in such a short period of time. It took Tiggy several days to come around to the idea of us taking him for walks or even petting him without him reacting in fear. Then, like a lightswitch, one day after his medicated bath he decided he was ready for love. Tigger went from crying and cowering to crawling into our laps and covering us with kisses in less than 24 hours, and we were so happy with this change it nearly broke our hearts all over again. The more comfortable he got, the more Tiggy Boy showed us his little personality quirks and the things that made him himself. We have learned that Tigger absolutely adores toys, specifically stuffies and tennis balls, and he will play fetch with you all day long. Not only is fetch a favorite past-time of his, but if his companion is too busy to toss his toys he's just as happy to carry his toy to his crate and chew on it alone. Tigger also crates well, keeping his kennel clean and not hesitating to retire to his safe space when he wants a nap or a break. Tigger gets along well with most other dogs, but as always we require a meet and greet if you already have any in the home. He does best with kids over 10, and is suited to a home with no cats.

Tigger is fully vetted and microchipped. Interested? Give us a call at 615-446-7387
