My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Ripley was picked up by our partners Animal Advocacy and Rescue Center when a good Samaritan reported seeing a dog limping along a back road in rural Del Rio. Luckily she was found, and despite being emaciated and covered in fleas, she was sweet and friendly. Ripley walks a little stiffly, and has old scarring on her back legs. She had x-rays that confirmed old injuries that prevent her from having full range of motion, but her bones have healed and she is not in pain. Ripley is friendly with dogs, cats and people. Check out her rescue video here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DG1-ejahx30/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Foster Update: Ripley is so sweet and smart! This little lady flies into her crate about 5 minutes before meal time without prompting, sits for treats, comes when she’s called, and figured out "place" in about 1 day. She's so eager to please she’s practically training herself.

Ripley loves to curl up in my lap whenever she can and she gazes right into my eyes. You can feel the love and gratitude just pouring out of her. She’s also starting to learn from my resident Beagle that belly rubs are the best.

She’s mostly potty trained .. she goes right away in the yard when she’s let out, but I have to time the midday potty break just right to avoid accidents inside. She also walks nicely on the leash ... just a little pulling when she gets excited. She’s done a great job of meeting neighbors while on leash -- both human and canine -- and she she doesn’t have any leash reactivity .

While Ripley would prefer to be with me at all times, she settles into her crate really nicely. She’ll cry for a few minutes at first but then she relaxes. If I’m in the room while she’s in her crate she’ll make it known just how unfair that is, letting out some very dramatic moans to make sure I see that the crate has suddenly become three sizes too small. There is definitely a very playful personality waiting to come out and I can’t wait to see her open up more and more. Some very lucky family is going to get an absolutely wonderful dog with Ripley.
