My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Danica deserves a home. She has been waiting for many years hoping that someone out there would be her person.

Danica has been a tough adoption. She doesn’t like to be touched unless it’s on her terms; which is only if she is sitting in your lap. If she is not sitting with you then hands off.

Anyone who has ever visited the cat room during open hours has no doubt seen one of our volunteers sitting with a cat on their lap the entire time. This would be Danica! Danica has a volunteer at the shelter she adores. As soon as she sees her enter the cat room she rushes from her perch and jumps in the lap where she transforms into an entirely different persona. Here she purrs, wants endless chin scratches, and will hold her volunteer hostage until her legs fall asleep from sitting so long! She is as happy as can be.

Once she is away from sitting in a lap she turns back into her “leave me alone” persona. She will swat off your attention and grumble at your attempts.

Danica is a hard sell. Many people want cats they can cuddle and pet at any time. There have been cats similar to Danica that do amazing in a home and change their demeanor. Our hope is to find someone who will accept Danica the way she is with no expectations. Someone who is looking for an independent cat. And someone who would enjoy having a cat hold their lap hostage!

Danica must be an only cat. She does not enjoy sharing space with other kitties which does not help at all with her grumbly attitude.

Danica is around 10 years old. She has been spayed, vaccinated, tested negative for leukemia/fiv, and is microchipped. She originally entered our shelter as an unclaimed abandoned kitty. She has perfect litter box manners.
