When we met Joker at Chicago Animal Care & Control, we knew he was special. We instantly fell in love with his sweet face and gentle spirit. Joker’s future was uncertain, but thanks to a few foster families who stepped up, we were able to save this sweet puppy.
According to his foster family, Joker is a goofy hunk-o-love with a big personality. His floppy ear says it all! He loves to make you laugh and is eager to please in exchange for all the pets, pats, and kisses. He's mastered potty training and crate training (overnight and while you're away) and can't get enough of bones, pupcilces and squeakers. He's silly excited when his harness comes out for walks and will love teasing all your neighborhood squirrels. Bring him along for all your adventures; he'll eagerly hop in the car, match your energy on walks, splash in puddles, and show you his skills on agility courses. He'll show off all his tricks (sit, down, stay, wait, watch-me, down, off, leave-it, drop-it) and quickly pick up new ones you teach him!

In order to qualify for ALIVE’s program all of the following steps must be met:
You must be at least 24 years of age and be able to provide ALIVE with proof of age.
Any current pets must be up to date on vaccinations, and be spayed/neutered. Exceptions to this will only be considered if proof of a medical explanation is provided.
If you currently rent, you must provide a landlord’s phone number and a copy of your executed lease.
All members of the family living in the home where the animal will be placed must be interviewed.
Applicant must live within 50 miles of Chicago if interested in adopting and within 10 miles of Chicago if interested in fostering.
Allow an ALIVE representative into your home for a visit to insure that your home is safe for the potential new dog or cat.
Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for a pet.
Adoption Donation Amounts:
Dogs over 6 months old: $325
Dogs under 6 months old: $400
Dogs over 7 years old: $150
Rabbits: $150
Cats: $175
If you are adopting a bonded pair, the adoption donation will be as reflected above, but as a buy one, get one free.
We require a $75 training deposit at the time of adopting a dog. You will be required to enroll and complete a training class with your new dog at one of our approved training facilities within 3 months of adoption in order for the deposit to be refunded.
