My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cheeto is an energetic, playful pup with a heart of gold and a personality that will keep you smiling! He’s a smart, eager-to-please guy with a touch of stubbornness—classic cattle dog style—but that just adds to his charm.

Cheeto is doing great in his foster home! He’s crate-trained and loves having a cozy blanket and toy in his crate. He’ll even head in there for a daytime nap on his own. He’s quiet, patient, and non-destructive.

This boy loves his walks and does well on a leash, although he gets a little excited and might circle you when he’s feeling playful—he’s working on walking in a straight line! He’s very treat-motivated and already knows sit and down; shake and roll over are coming along nicely too.

Cheeto lives with a 10- and 12-year-old and has been around younger kids as well. He’s especially interested in kids if they’ve got snacks! His cattle dog instincts come through at times—he may gently nip at ankles when excited—so he’d do best with older children who can help redirect this behavior.

He’s shy with strangers at first and needs a little time to build trust. Slow, gentle approaches work best—let him come to you for a sniff, and soon enough, he’ll be leaning in for a head scratch between the ears. He’s especially cuddly in the mornings when he’s still sleepy and loves curling up in a lap for a nap.

Cheeto is very playful and adores stuffed toys, with his favorite being a stuffed cow. He loves chase and tug games and would thrive with a fenced-in yard where he can run full speed and burn off energy. He’s mouthy when he plays, so he’ll need reminders to be gentle. He’s also a bit of a messy eater—he’ll grab a piece of food, eat it, then drop the next one on the floor for later!

Cheeto was diagnosed with Idiopathic Epilepsy in February, but the good news is his medication is working beautifully! His coat is looking shinier and healthier than ever. His blood work came back great, and he’s put on some healthy weight.

An active family would be perfect for Cheeto—he’d love daily walks or even runs. He’s smart, energetic, and eager to train, so some focused one-on-one time would help him thrive. His adorable radar-like ears and curly tail only add to his irresistible charm.

If you’re looking for a playful, loyal companion who’s equal parts fun and affectionate, Cheeto might just be your perfect match!
