My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is part of our shelter outreach program where we take dogs from overcrowded shelters in hopes of finding them a forever home here! We generally do not have much background info on them and cannot guarantee they are housebroken.  They are all up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered and microchipped.

Update 3-14-26

Today, March 14th,  I turned 3 years old… and I’ve officially been waiting ONE YEAR for a family of my own.

I’m a happy, playful, people-loving girl who would love an active home with a fenced yard. I enjoy toys, long walks, and outdoor adventures - I’d make an amazing hiking or running buddy! I'm so smart and love hugs.

✔ Loves people of all ages                                                                                                         âœ” Fun, smart, and playful
✔ Always ready for an adventure

To set me up for success, I’d do best starting as the only pet. I do enjoy play dates with other dogs. Once I settle into home life, a dog sibling down the road may be just fine! No cats please.

Please fill out an application to adopt me….I would really love a family of my own.  https://jerseyshoreanimalcenter.org/dog-adoption-application/

 Meet Pip!

This stunning 2-year-old, 45 lb Pointer mix is a bundle of energy and love! With her gorgeous coat and keen hunting instinct, Pip is always ready for an adventure—whether it's a long walk, chasing squirrels (from a safe distance, of course ), or exploring the great outdoors. But don’t let her energetic side fool you—she also adores cuddle time and will be your most loyal snuggle buddy.

Pip will thrive in a home with a fenced yard where she can stretch her legs and burn off some of that energy. A training class is required to help her channel her enthusiasm into good manners, but she’s eager to learn and bond with her forever family.

If you're looking for an active, loving companion, Pip is your girl! Apply today to meet this beautiful pup!

*Per JSAC policy, puppies and kittens under 6 months will not be adopted to families with children under the age of 6 years.

Adoption Process

Our friendly, knowledgable team of staff and volunteers would be glad to give you a tour of the shelter and discuss whether one of our furry friends is the right match for your home.

The JSAC has careful policies on the placement of young animals, dominant breed dogs (Rottweilers, Shepherds, Akitas, etc). We have a lifelong return policy for all our pets. We prefer homes in the region so that we can be a resource for the animals and their adopters, however we will adopt out of state to approved adopters. These policies and procedures are in place to protect everyone involved and are very common when rehoming animals, whether through a shelter or a rescue group.

We do not have "same day" adoptions. Rather, an application for an animal is reviewed to ensure that 1) the home has taken good care of their other animals * 2) The animal is permitted in the home and 3) that it is the right home for the right animal (choosing dog that likes cats if cats already in household, etc..). Typically this process takes 24-48 hours. If a dog application is approved and there are other dogs in the home, we have the two (or more) dogs meet; many times if necessary.
