My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Carlie, a young feline who was in the family way, knew she would be giving birth to her litter of kittens soon. So, she looked for a safe place and found one on the back patio of a home. She delivered her five kittens, two girls and three boys, and then her luck got even better. Carlie and her new family were accepted at AALOC, where they all would be cared for without any concern about finding food or being safe. Named after the Happy Days TV show, the girls are called Shirley and Joanie, and the boys Richie, Chachi and of course, Fonzy.

Joanie is a very sweet brown mackerel tabby with golden eyes. She is exceptionally affectionate and loves to be picked up and lay in your arms. All the while she will thank you with the biggest purr ever. Mackerel tabbies are some of the friendliest and most social cats ever, and Joanie is a perfect example of that.

In general mackerel tabbies are known to be adventurous and fun to own. They are very playful and like to have a box of toys from which to choose. They can be “inspectors,” and like to be included in anything that is happening in the house and explore their domains. Many mackerel tabby owners feel mackerel tabbies are extremely intelligent and some say mackerel tabbies are more dog than cat, since they will readily follow you around, play fetch and like to snuggle.

Please submit an application to adopt Joanie and perhaps one of her siblings too at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Joanie and get to know her a bit

More about this shelter

The Animal Assistance League of Orange County is a non-profit 501(c)3 no kill humane society dedicated to aiding lost and homeless pets, helping people with pet related problems, promoting responsible pet-ownership and pet population control, and preventing cruelty to animals through educational programs.

The organization took its first steps in 1973 with a few animal lovers who wanted to reunite pet owners with lost pets. Today there is a no-kill shelter located in Midway City, with a population of approximately 110 cats and dogs. There is a telephone/email helpline that assists pet owners with a variety of issues, including spay/neuter, pet aid for low-income pet owners, animal abuse and any number of other issues related to cats and dogs.

AALOC is managed almost entirely by volunteers. The reason we do what we do is that we care deeply about animal welfare and hope to make a difference - at least in our part of the world.
