Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Belinda asked us to write you the following from her. Her original posting follows.
"Hi. My name is Belinda. I am still looking for my own home. It has been months since I've been in my foster home which I am so grateful for but half of the time I'm in my cage and half of the time I get to roam around in my foster home. I am starting to get very depressed. I am a very good cat and I am very affectionate and I would be your best buddy! I must admit that I am a little overweight but there is more of me to love! I would say that I would need a bigger litter box which will be provided when I come home with you. I get along with other cats but I prefer to be with male cats. I had a tough life and almost died because I was not spayed. I was fortunate enough to be rescued and have my life saved. I am very happy and healthy now. I want to make you happy and we can be happy together!
Thank you for listening. Love, Belinda"
BELINDA'S ORIGINAL POSTING:
Here is our "Belinda", a Tiger Striped/Calico. She is 4 years and 7 months old. Belinda is a very nice cat and she is a BIG cat!
Belinda was found in the East End of Waterbury and, when she came to us, she looked VERY pregnant and she did not want to be picked up at all. So we let her just rest. We thought her kittens would be born any minute, any day. We waited and waited getting more and more concerned that Belinda was not delivering any kittens! Enough waiting! We brought Belinda to our veterinarian and had an x-ray done. It turns out that Belinda was not pregnant! Poor Belinda had "pyometra" which is a potentially fatal bacterial infection that occurs when a female animal's uterus fills with pus. Fortunately Belinda was "leaking" the pus which literally saved her life. Pyometra sometimes occurs in animals that have not been spayed.
Belinda had emergency surgery which involves a procedure more complicated than a routine spay, she got her shots and she tested negative for feline leukemia/aids. The cost of Belinda's spay was $700.00 but we saved her life!
We already mentioned that Belinda is a BIG cat. She needs to lose some weight and she will have to have special food to help her do that.
Belinda is a very nice kitty and she will make a wonderful companion for someone. In her new home, children must be 6 years old or older.
To adopt from us, you MUST have a veterinarian reference in your own name. We will not place any animal without a veterinarian reference. We get a veterinarian reference from your veterinarian which is a history of medical care administered by your veterinarian to your present or previous pet or pets. Please do not contact us if you cannot abide by our adoption rules.
The adoption fee for Belinda is $200. No credit cards.
You can meet any of our animals at Petco located at 201 Union Street in Waterbury on Saturday during our adoption hours from 12:00 to 3:00 so, if you are interested in meeting Belinda or a particular animal, please email us at feline55keeper@gmail.com and we will be certain to bring that particular animal with us to Petco on Saturday.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE STRESS THAT IN ORDER TO ADOPT FROM US, YOU MUST HAVE A VETERINARIAN REFERENCE...NO EXCEPTIONS!
