Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Koa is one sweet guy! This handsome 4-year-old lab mix is ready for a fresh start. He's still learning that the world isn't scary and is looking for experienced adopters to help him build his confidence and blossom into the dog he dreams of being! Koa can be more nervous around men and is hoping his new family will be patient with him as he settles into his new home. Once Koa feels comfortable, he's full of playful energy and will keep you smiling. Koa has met a couple dogs and done well, though any introductions to resident pets should be done slowly. He is looking for a home without cats. Koa will likely do best with dog-experienced teens (16+) and adults and would love to live in a quiet neighborhood where he can go for sidewalk strolls. He is not a fit for an apartment or condo environment. If you're ready to welcome home this precious pooch, fill out an adoption application today!

1.
Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

First visit our website, www.homewardpet.org, to see all available pets. There, set an appt to visit the shelter or apply for fostered pets.

2.
Interview

For fostered pets only, if your application is first in line, we'll schedule time for you to speak with an Adoption Specialist.

3.
Meet the Pet

During your visit, the Adoption Specialist can introduce you to any of our available animals. Foster animals will be brought to the shelter.

4.
Take the Pet Home

If it's a match when you meet, you'll sign our adoption contract, pay an adoption fee and take your new friend home!

Homeward Pet Adoption Center does adoptions by appointment. Please visit www.homewardpet.org to view all of our Available animals and make an appointment.

For pets noted to be in foster, you'll instead fill out an application in their profile. You'll be emailed a link to speak by phone with an Adoption Specialist.

We will share with you all the information we have regarding an animal's history, health and behavior, and work with you to make a great match for your family.

Homeward Pet Adoption Center is a private, non-profit animal shelter. With medical and behavior staff on-site, we are on the leading edge of animal welfare, using Fear Free Sheltering techniques, positive training and enrichment to provide the best care we can to our cats and dogs. All of our animals receive a comprehensive health exam, and are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and given flea preventative and dewormer prior being available for adoption.
