Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mara came in as an injured stray with a nasty leg wound. We immediately took her to the vet to get it checked out. They started her on an antibiotic ointment and advised us to clean her wound twice daily. After multiple weeks of cleaning the wound and antibiotics, it was apparent that Mara needed to have her right front leg amputated. While doing the surgery for her front leg, the vets also repaired her right back leg. She had an FHO done, which caused her hip dysplasia and her hip to pop out of socket. Mara is a very strong yet still so very sweet.
A week or so passed and Mara’s leg started to improve but her kennel was covered in blood and she had lost the use of her paw, so we rushed her to Catoosa Small Animal again. They prescribed her an oral medication to see if it would help and had us make an appointment to sedate Mara and explore the wound further/run tests.
Today we dropped Mara off for her sedated exploratory surgery. After some time the vet called to give us an update date. Mara’s leg would need to be amputated, but she didn’t have cancer which is what we first thought. After further evaluation it also became clear that one of her hips was dislocated and would need to be fixed as well.
Mara will be spending a few nights at Catoosa Small Animal Hospital so they can amputate her one leg, fix her dislocated hip on a different leg, get her full vaccines, and have a sleep over for observation. This is a very costly $1,000+ experience for Mara. While we are VERY committed to the health and well-being of our animals, this will take a large chuck of our medical budget.
We are needing help covering her medical bills and recovery process.
If you are able to make any sort of donation of $1, $5, $50, etc Mara and ourselves would be truly grateful!
You can make payments at Catoosa Small Animal Hospital for Mara under the Catoosa Animal Control account. Thank you in advance and also for reading this far!
