Ben is a big softy with a heart as warm as his golden fur. This Lab/Pit mix is as sweet as they come-a gentle, affectionate companion who simply wants to be close to his people. One look into his soulful light brown eyes, and you'll be smitten for life.
Though he's a large boy, Ben is calm, kind, and incredibly gentle. He enjoys his daily walks, time in the yard, and the occasional training session-he already knows commands like sit and paw! He's always happiest when he's by your side, soaking up love and returning it tenfold with happy tail wags and quiet companionship.
Ben has also joined playgroups at the shelter and done great with both male and female dogs. While he's not particularly playful, he enjoys the company of other dogs and prefers to just hang out and do his own thing. He'd be a great match for another calm, respectful dog who's okay with a laid-back buddy.
True to his Lab roots, Ben has shown an interest in water and loves splashing around in the kiddie pool-it's one of his favorite ways to cool off and have fun!
Ben would thrive in a moderately active home with older children and possibly a canine companion. He's the kind of dog who brings a steady, loving presence into any space he enters.
If you're looking for a loyal friend who's equal parts snuggle bug, water lover, and easygoing adventure buddy, Ben might just be your perfect match. Come meet this handsome sweetheart-you won't regret it!
If you would like to meet Ben please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care he has received.
**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

We are a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter comprised mostly of volunteers. We take in cats and dogs from local shelters and the public who can no longer care for their pets. Each of the volunteers at FMAR has a tremendous amount of love for animals and simply wants to do what they can to ensure that as many animals as possible find a forever home. Until then, each animal has a home at FMAR indefinitely.
