My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I’m Glitterbrain (okay, that’s not really my name… but it should be). I’m a squishy, snuggly, sparkle-filled girl who has been through a lot and came out the other side with a heart full of love and maybe… a little less common sense than your average cat.

I’m a proud FIP survivor — a disease that used to be a guaranteed goodbye, but thanks to treatment, I’m here living my best, extra-glittery life. I did have some neurological issues from being so sick, and while I’ve fully recovered in most ways, I do still have one lingering quirk: I can’t quite tell when I’m pooping. I am perfect with my pee, but sometimes my poop surprises me and, well… ends up outside the litter box. I promise it’s not on purpose — my body just forgets to send the memo!

Aside from that, I’m basically a giant cuddle marshmallow. I adore snuggling, I love every cat I meet, and I don’t have a single mean bone in my chunky little body. I’m convinced that instead of brains, I just have glitter bouncing around in there, keeping me cheerful, friendly, and delightfully goofy.

Speaking of chunky… yes, I could stand to lose a pound (or three). I love food — especially kitten food — and I’ve been known to waddle in and steal snacks from my smaller friends. What can I say? I’m a girl who knows what she wants.

If you’re looking for a cat who is endlessly sweet, hilariously lovable, and sparkly in spirit (and maybe in the head), I’m your girl. I promise to fill your home with cuddles, purrs, and the kind of joy that only a slightly-dopey, always-lovable survivor like me can bring.

More about this rescue

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
