My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Carter is a very sweet boy. We believe he may have some hearing impairment, he seems to be able to hear somethings but not everything. Carter loves affection and playing. He seems to get nervous easily or startled likely due to hearing.. He and his brother Duncan  were dumped over a fence and abandoned as small puppies. We are unsure of their exact mix. He does not like to share his food and would need to be fed separately from others. Carter does good with children but is in his teething stage so will need to watch out for toys or small fingers. He does pretty good with going outside but still had a puppy bladder so will need to be taken out not too long after being feed or given water until he learns a routine. Carter  will nibble at dry food but loves canned food and will gobble it up immediately.

He will need a home with a lot of energy, who can help with training him to be the best boy he can be.

Estimated DOB:   10/4/2024

Adoption fee: $200 (6% KY sales tax included)

Duncan is a LOVEBUG. Always looking to please you and get love from you. Duncan is very outgoing and does not know a stranger. He and his brother Carter were dumped over a fence and abandoned as small puppies. We are unsure of their exact mix. He does not like to share his food and would need to be fed separately from others. Duncan does good with children but is in his teething stage so will need to watch out for toys or small fingers. He does pretty good with going outside but still had a puppy bladder so will need to be taken out not too long after being feed or given water until he learns a routine. Duncan will nibble at dry food but loves canned food and will gobble it up immediately.

He will need a home with a lot of energy, who can help with training him to be the best boy he can be.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

A cat or kitten only leaves its foster home ONCE an adoption application has been approved. Each is spayed/neutered and has completed all required vetting per our protocols, prior to going to it's adoptive home.

SCHS vetting for foster cats and kittens includes: spay/neuter, current on shots, FeLuk/FIV test neg. (FeLuk test neg. only for kittens under 5 months of age), Rabies vaccination (cats over 6-months of age), Frontline and/or Revolution treatment, and HomeAgain Microchip. You get all the vet records for your new family member, and a starter bag of food too!

Go meet their pets

All Scott County Humane Society pets are in volunteers' foster homes. We do NOT have an intake facility and are NOT the Scott County Animal Shelter. All animals in our care are from the Scott County Animal Shelter, an open-admission, county-run facility.

We do adoptions through online listings on websites such as this one, as well as most Saturdays from 11am to 5pm at the PetSmart in Lexington at Hamburg-Pavilion! We also do adoptions at the SCHS Center in Georgetown in the Indian Acres Shopping Center.
