My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Boo – A Stunning Common Ball Python Ready for a Forever Home

Looking for a calm, charming companion? Meet Boo, a beautiful example of a clear-patterned common ball python who has been growing up in our care since September 2022 — that's over 18 months of patiently waiting for the right person to notice them. Though Boo is classified as a common, the patterns and colors suggest there is possibly blade or something in the yellow belly complex in them.

This sweet snake came to us under unfortunate circumstances. Boo was purchased from a pet store as a baby, but when the owner's housing situation changed and they were forced to move out of state, Boo was left behind. Thankfully, someone stepped in to ensure Boo made it safely to us. While their life started with instability, they’ve since been in the loving hands of a foster home, growing stronger and more confident with each passing month.

Affectionately called "Baby-Boo" for their gentle and calm demeanor, this lovely serpent spends their days nestled in a cozy hide but emerges in the evenings—and sometimes mornings—for a little exploration and interaction. Boo currently measures just over 2 feet and is still growing. They especially love burrowing into fresh sphagnum moss, which supports healthy, stress-free shedding.

The ideal forever home for Boo will provide a secure habitat, appropriate heating and humidity, and a species-appropriate diet. Don’t worry—our rescue team will help guide you through all the steps to ensure a smooth transition and long-term success.

Boo has known the sting of being left behind, and yet they remain sweet, resilient, and full of quiet charm. Now, after more than a year and a half in care, Boo deserves a forever home with someone who sees their beauty and is ready to offer the love and stability every animal deserves.

More about this rescue

Small Breed Rescue of Southern California is an all-volunteer, non-profit, foster based organization funded by donations. We are dedicated to rescuing small breed dogs, small reptiles and select exotic pets primarily from public shelters and other rescues. Being committed to keeping administrative expenses low, virtually every dollar received goes directly to the care of the animals.

Our rescue is uniquely structured to rehabilitate animals who are at high risk of euthanasia due to manageable behavioral challenges, such as dogs who are declining in a shelter environment or reptiles / exotics that have not been properly handled over their lifetime. We develop relationships to accommodate these specific assistance needs, which is what differentiates us from other rescue organizations.

We have assembled a foster team that consists of experienced individuals who bring particular skills from the animal welfare industry. This enables us to grow, educate and enrich our foster community in a manner that supports our specific needs and those of our animals.

Our group remains interested in and committed to the welfare of the animals beyond the adoption process by providing education, training tips, resource references, and an open door policy to our adopters.
