Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Popcorn and Nugget are five-year-old sister guinea pigs looking for a loving guardian together.
Popcorn is a red and white Abyssinian guinea pig, and Nugget is a brown and white American guinea pig. They are both easy-going and will take food from your hands. They get along beautifully with each other, as well as with other guinea pigs. In their former home, they shared a habitat with Latte and Munchkin, another pair of guinea pigs available at the rescue.
Sadly, the family they lived with are experiencing health issues and can no longer care for their pets.
Popcorn and Nugget eat unlimited timothy, orchard and botanical hays, two cups of fresh salad each day including cilantro, green, red leaf, and butter lettuce, parsley, and share a 1/4 cup of guinea pig pellets. Guinea pigs need daily vitamin C from fresh pellets, a 1-inch square of red pepper, vitamin C cookies, or some of their dark leafy greens.
Please read up on guinea pig care and diet by visiting this excellent website http://www.guinealynx.info/
These girls would love a home with people who will handle them daily, keep them well-fed, nails trimmed, and keep their habitat nice and clean.
If you’re interested in meeting and possibly adopting Popcorn and Nugget, please fill out the adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/guinea-pig-adoption-application/ and follow up to make an appointment by contacting friendsofpetraits@gmail.com
Their adoption fee of $50 for the pair benefits the Friends of Petraits Rescue Group. For an additional $50, you can purchase their 2 foot by 4 foot Midwest guinea pig habitat and a starter kit of all the supplies you’ll need to care for them including water bottles, hidey huts, hay, pellets, and litter. The girls are being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.
