*This dog doesn’t belong to ASF and hasn’t been evaluated by ASF.*
Meet Oakley! She is an 5 year old Miniature American Shepherd and weighs 27 lbs. She is spayed, up to date on shots, and on heartworm prevention. Oakley is good with older children! No younger children, cats, or dogs, due to her reactivity! Oakley will pee in the house when guests come over, because she is excited. She is anxious around storms and loud wind.
Oakley bit the owner’s younger son twice on the face. This happened when he had food and the other incident happened when he got too close. She will also nip people’s hands if they try to take something from her without offering her a treat. She also bit the owner’s husband after their young son attempted to hug her. Oakley went after their son and when the husband tried to intervene, she bit him. The owner is surrendering her because she doesn’t do well with younger children. They have worked with a trainer, but she hasn’t improved.
If you think you can provide a great home for Oakley, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Oakley.

More about this rescue
Nancy Gonzalez, founder and CEO, created Australian Shepherds Furever (ASF), a non-profit organization to promote the educated adoption and rescue of the Australian Shepherd (Aussie) dog breed.
In July of 2012, ASF initiated as a Facebook page hoping to have 1,000 user "likes" by the end one year. The page quickly outgrew expectations, now with a network of nearly 99,000 individuals striving to provide aid and refuge to Aussies all over the country.
Using the Facebook page as a platform, the website www.australianshepherdsfurever.org was developed as an additional resource aimed at educating the public on this intelligent and beautiful breed. It provides resources for those seeking help, or those willing to contribute to the Adopt, Save, Foster (ASF) philosophy. Through this philosophy, ASF has saved the lives of countless dogs and helped to provide assistance to those that have nowhere else to turn.
We as humans have a responsibility to speak up and take action in favor of those beings that are less fortunate. Thanks to a team of passionate and proactive volunteers, Aussies nationwide are given a chance at a better life through Australian Shepherds Furever.
