REDUCED ADOPTION FEE OF $100 for the pair! BONDED PAIR and they really enjoy the company of other cats! Want to be reminded every day that true love exists? Meet bonded pair Skye Thea and Boots “A’ Doots” — two sweet, shy, and incredibly loving cats who have been through a lot together and are ready for the next, better chapter of their lives.
Boots is a quiet, gentle boy who startles easily but has a playful, curious side that shines through once he feels safe. He’s especially fond of bird wand toys and kibble treats, and his funny, goofy antics are starting to emerge in foster care. Skye is also very shy, but sweet and calm. She clearly longs to be close to people — swirling just out of reach until she builds up the courage to let you pet her. When she does, she melts into your hand, then flits away again, waiting for the next moment of bravery. She also loves the bird wand toy, and her pink little mouth looks like she’s wearing lipstick — just one of her many endearing features.
In their foster home, Skye was the first to feel comfortable being out in the open, while Boots was the first to approach his foster human with curiosity. Their bond is strong and heartwarming — they can often be found grooming each other, licking each other’s faces at the same time in the sweetest displays of affection. They raised three kittens of their own, plus three foster kittens, in a former home before coming into rescue, and now it’s their turn to be cherished.
Boots is FIV positive, meaning he has a weakened immune system. This doesn’t require any special treatment day-to-day, but it’s important he see a vet quickly if he ever gets sick, so it doesn’t escalate. FIV-positive cats can live long, healthy lives, especially when kept indoors in a stable environment.
Boots and Skye are looking for a calm, quiet home with patient humans who will give them the time they need to come out of their shells. They would also do well in a home with other friendly cats — they really enjoy feline company. A carefully managed barn home could even be an option, provided there is a proper acclimation period and ongoing care. If you’re someone who finds joy in quiet moments, gentle progress, and the deep reward of earning a shy cat’s trust, Boots and Skye may be the perfect pair for you.
Boots 'A' Doots and his girlfriend, Skye Thea are waiting to meet you in their foster home so apply to adopt to schedule a meet and greet. All cats are spayed/neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative.
All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information.
Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.
Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC.
