My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Joules the gecko was surrendered because his owners were overwhelmed with his care. He was having shedding issues which had blossomed into retained eye caps and eye infections, which lead to inappetence. This is a pretty common problem with Leopard geckos and is best prevented by frequent soaks and ensuring that shedding has been completed. With some meds, soaks and supportive care, he is back to functioning like a normal gecko and loves eating again. At this time he needs no extra care but his adopter should make sure he is shedding completely to avoid him getting sick again. He is used to eating super mealworms but we can occasionally get him to eat a dubia roach!https://www.lostwoodsas.com/adoption-application

Go meet their pets

We are currently open by appointment only to see all the pets, but we frequently appear at farmer's markets and other local events with adoptable animals.

More about this shelter

We are a specialty rescue for small exotic pets, such as reptiles and small mammals. We were formed by two women who met working at a nature center. In their interactions with the public they noticed a need in the area for a rescue that specialized in exotic pets, as well as a value in public education. Lost Woods Animal Sanctuary was formed with the mission to reduce mistreatment and abandonment of animals through rescue and rehoming, as well as educational outreach.
