My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

mixed breed | UTD | neutered | fostered in Barrie, ON

Lazarus started this life very under-socialized - contained in a basement with his siblings and parents. Coming into rescue has been so scary for him - Laz will need an adopter who understands this and is willing to work with him through his feelings and help him with consistency, routine and training

Dog friendly ✅ Laz has been exposed to dogs of many sizes from 10lbs to 100lbs, and multiple personalities. He requires calm introductions but he quickly loves other dogs and loves to play. His ideal home will be one with dogs his same size or larger, no small dogs please.

Cats ❌ He's been exposed to cats and does chase them.

Older kids only ❌ He is not a fan of young children. When on a walk if he hears or sees them even at a distance he reacts and can be hard to redirect. He does react with fear to all humans but settles quicker to women. His foster mom is working hard on socialization

House trained he goes outside often and he goes and sits by the door when he needs to go out but he does still have some accidents

He is good on leash and loves to go for walks, but is a puller and reacts to strangers and is very interested in birds and squirrels.

Crate trained ✅ while his foster mom works during the day Laz is crated. At night he sleeps in bed with his foster mom and other foster siblings.

Car rides ✅ He is improving in the car with some practice - he does require a little coaxing to go in.

Laz is a chewer so tough chew toys are a must, he also likes toys that squeak and will quickly dissect stuffies - thankfully he’s not known to ingest the stuffy guts. He loves tug of war especially if it’s with a doggy friend and chasing balls.

He has not showed any toy or food guarding and waits his turn for his treats. He will go and sit in his crate at meal time and waits till he gets the "ok" to eat. He does eat quickly and currently has a slow feeder.

He is a high energy dog and loves to play. He is very smart and does learn quickly but is also a little stubborn. When its rest time he is a snuggler and likes to give kisses, attempts to be a lap dog but will settle glued to your hip.

All adopters are offered complimentary training with our certified and accredited trainer

More about this rescue

Our mission is to ensure that homeless pets, pets that can no longer be cared for, as well as pets that have no more time, come into our care and have a new outlook on life. We believe that EVERY animal has a chance at a long, healthy life full of love and snuggles.

We believe in the 3 R's....RESCUE, REHABILITATE, RE-HOME.

Every animal that comes into our care will be treated with compassion and respect. All of our rescue pets are an extension of our family, and therefore are treated as such. There will be endless amounts of love, affection, and snuggles.
