My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

❤  IN VERMONT  ❤
Meet Copper (of siblings Lilly & Copper)! More pictures and video below or to come!

Copper is 2 years old, male (approx. DOB 3-4-22), 45 lbs., vetted, is or will neutered and micro-chipped.

Hey there! I'm Copper, and I'm a good-looking dog with a heart full of love and a mind that's eager to learn! My foster mom says I'm a perfect gentleman on a routine. I'm potty-trained and love my crate—it's my safe spot for naps and a good night's sleep. I'm also a master of commands! I know Sit, Down, Wait, Paw, and Other Paw and love learning new tricks. Want a loyal, smart companion? That's me!

I'm an energy chameleon; I love to relax and cuddle, but if you want to run, I'm ready to take off! I have a beautiful, long stride and would love a safe place to really stretch my legs. I also love playing fetch and have a unique appreciation for gourmet food—my custom diet of raw turkey, fresh veggies, and olive oil keeps me looking and feeling great!
I am a bit of a sensitive soul and need someone who understands dog body language. I'm shy around new people and prefer to approach you on my own terms. Please, no sudden movements, loud voices, or reaching out to pet my head—I just need a moment to confirm you're a friend, not a foe! I am a loyal protector of my person, so I need an experienced owner who can give me confidence and clear expectations. I'd love a home with someone who is around a lot and who might have another playful dog to be my pal and guide. I promise to be the most devoted best friend you've ever had!

Stay tuned for more information as Copper is a new rescue!

Disclosure:   Breed labels are often incorrect: we rarely know the genetic lineage of the dogs we rescue.  Many shelters and rescues specify breeds based on appearance; however, research has shown that less than 2% of a dog’s DNA determines appearance!   Passion 4 Paws does not practice the use of labels pertaining to compatibility with others or dog breed.  Labels such as “dog friendly” and “child friendly” should be used with caution as they often over-simplify the personalities and behavior of dogs.

More about this rescue

Passion 4 Paws is an animal rescue organization founded by Robin Shover of Shelburne, Vermont. Robin has invested many years learning best practices to rescue dogs primarily from death row at high kill shelters. Robin works very closely with Potters Angels Rescue out of Randolph, Vermont and decided the most effective way to save even more dogs is to continue working closely with PAR plus her own new entity in Chittenden County and surrounding areas. Many people who personally know Robin realize her "passion" and dedication to the dogs. P4Ps rescues dogs from high kill shelters, provides a safe environment with foster families and adopters, education for the community, and advocacy for animal rights. Our group will be staffed entirely by volunteers and will be served by a Board of Directors. Our efforts will be supported through donations, charity events, Corporate/Employee Benefit tax deductible donation programs, and the generosity of animal lovers from within the community. Our focus is on dog rescue only. All funds received will be used strictly for this purpose and will incorporate medical bills, transport fees, food and other items for the dogs, shelter fees, charity events, boarding, and training.
