My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Obi is what we lovingly call a gentle giant, and he has been patiently waiting far too long for a home of his own. This big, handsome boy has completely won over everyone at the shelter and is adored by staff and volunteers alike. He is known for taking little strolls through our offices just to say hello, and those visits are always a highlight of the day.

Obi is playful, incredibly sweet, and happiest when he is with his people. He loves a good chew toy, a cozy spot to relax, and has absolutely no idea that he is not a lap dog, and we do not have the heart to tell him otherwise. He also spent time in a foster home, where he showed just how affectionate he can be. His foster family described him as a devoted cuddler who loves being close and soaking up attention.

As a senior, Obi does not need much, just a soft place to rest, familiar faces to love, and someone willing to finally choose him. He would do best in a home with older children and as the only dog. Obi is not a fan of cats, but he has so much love to give, and we hope someone will see him not for his age, but for the wonderful companion he has been waiting to be.

If this animal is located at our Manhattan Adoption Center, head in to meet them and see if you are a match! We are a same-day adoption center, and an application does not put you on a list or hold an animal for you. If they are in Wantagh or in a foster home, please submit an online application and our team will reach out to further discuss the adoption process. Prior to adoption, all of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and given their age-appropriate vaccines.
