My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Tasha is an estimated 15-month-old 55 lb spayed female shepherd mix who was found as a stray and taken to the overcrowded open intake San Bernardino city shelter. She was assessed to be friendly with staff and in playgroups, though exhibiting signs of kennel stress and therefore red-listed for euthanasia. We tagged her for transport to DGS and will share more about her as we get to know her in foster care.

Foster Updates:  Tasha has such a sweet demeanor, LOVES pets, and personal attention. She enjoys playing and running around in the backyard and will chase a ball or other moving objects, but doesn't seem interested in toys so far. Tasha requires daily exercise but for a shepherd/herding breed, she’s on the lower energy side. She is lazy at heart but also loves to run and chase my dogs and will get anxious if not exercised.

Tasha is intelligent and learns quickly. She already knows several commands including sit, down, kennel, place, yes, and break. We are currently working on heel, come, and manners around doors and other thresholds. My hope is to get her fully e-collar trained–off leash reliability–within the next week or so. She’s progressing really fast so far and a great fit for the e-collar. She is crate and potty trained as well.

Tasha would love to have another canine companion to chase around the yard, but loves her people and would be fine as an only dog with an active family who can provide her with daily exercise. She recently spent time with both kids and cats and did great with both. Tasha rides well in the car and will make a great adventure companion for an active person or family.

Adoption Info: Tasha's adoption fee is $550 which includes spay, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, negative heartworm test, vet visit and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization.

Animal History: Tasha was a stray intake to the public San Bernardino city shelter and red listed for space. She was pulled by our rescue partner ARF and transported to Seattle via Wiggle Butts arriving Sunday 04/06. She will be available for adoption once evaluated in foster care in the greater Seattle area.
