My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This puppy is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation FREE if picked up in TN, $100 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions. She has been waiting for a new home since August, 2024!

Meet Millie — a vibrant, playful, and loyal heeler mix with a heart as big as her boundless energy. Weighing in at around 40 pounds, this athletic beauty is the perfect mix of fun-loving and focused. Whether she’s racing through the yard in a game of chase, hiking alongside you on a scenic trail, or splashing in a creek, Millie is always up for an adventure. But don’t let her high energy fool you — when it’s time to settle down, she has a wonderful off switch and is more than happy to curl up for some well-earned snuggles. Millie’s personality is a joyful blend of herding instinct, protective devotion, and eager-to-please enthusiasm. She adores playing with other dogs, especially those her own size who can keep up with her wrestling and tug-of-war skills. She’s friendly with cats and smaller pups too, but she prefers not to hold back, so bigger dog friends are her favorite. Millie is particularly sweet and protective with the dogs in her foster home — she even steps in to “defend” her pals at the park if someone’s picking on them. Her protective instincts don’t come from aggression but from a deeply rooted desire to care for her pack. Her love for people shines just as brightly. Millie absolutely adores her humans — especially children — and has become much more confident and trusting, even with strangers. She has a heartwarming ritual of running to greet her favorite familiar faces at the dog park, tail wagging with pure excitement. She’s also smart as a whip and incredibly trainable. She already knows: sit, stay, touch, come, and drop it, and she’s working hard on “down.” Both food and toys are high-value rewards for her, so she’s eager to learn and please.  At home, Millie is quiet and content in her crate and fully house-trained, though she does have a chicken allergy, so a diet made for sensitive dogs keeps everything running smoothly. She's also calm in the car and enjoys the ride, but on walks, she’ll need a little help resisting the urge to chase squirrels or cars — a front-hook harness and a bit of distraction go a long way. Millie is the kind of dog who would thrive with an active family or outdoorsy individual who’s ready to include her in their everyday fun. She’d be a fantastic fit for someone who hikes, has a big yard, or even a farm where she can stretch her legs and have a sense of purpose. A playful dog buddy her size and kids who love to run and play would make her heart sing. If you’re looking for a loyal, trainable, affectionate companion who’s full of life and eager to be part of your team, Millie just might be your perfect match.

THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA state residents.

A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) http://aarf-tn.com/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first!

Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the submittal of an Adoption Application online and a phone interview with one of our adoption coordinators. To be sure the long distance adoption is the right match for both the dog and family, we offer virtual video conference meeting for your new family member. Following verification and approval of your adoption application, we will arrange a professional transport of our new family member to your area. Our adoption donations range from $200-$300 depending on circumstances of the rescue dog, age, breed, etc. Professional transportation for your new family member is $150. We require a signed contract, driver's license and vet reference.

Go meet their pets

Our rescue doesn't have an actual shelter in the New England area. Therefore it is not possible to meet our rescues in person prior to their adoption. Our dogs are brought up to their new families each week! The professional transport service is certified through the USDA. Our rescue dogs can be returned to us if things don't work out. We want each adoption to be for a forever home, so we try very hard to make sure it's the right match! Video conference meetings available and encouraged.

More about this rescue

A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) no-kill animal rescue located in the Upper Cumberland Region of Middle Tennessee where animal control issues are out of control. A.A.R.F. is making a difference not only in the lives of these wonderful, abandoned and neglected animals, but also in our community. We encourage you to see the wonderful dogs and puppies that we have available for adoption – and the best part is that we have a local transportation company, P.E.T.S. LLC (as seen on Animal Planet’s “Last Chance Highway”) right next door!
