My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Zeus is a young, approximately 4 year-old, 55-lb American Staffordshire Terrier mix who has a beautiful, brown brindle coat with a white chest and paws. Zeus has a confident, submissive temperament with a medium-to-low energy level. He’s a great combination of smart, loyal, and eager to please.

Zeus found his way to Minnesota by way of Chattanooga, Tennessee when he was a little over a year-old. He was adopted from the Humane Society in May of 2022 and spent some time living on the UofM campus (where he clearly learned to cuddle), before he was ultimately surrendered to Wags for foster care.

He’s completely house-trained and even alerts his people when its to go out. He’s great with kids, people and other dogs. He loves his chew toys and knows they’re the only things he can chew or destroy. He’s a quick learner.

Zeus is not kennel trained but there’s probably no need for it at this point. When left alone at home he just naps.

While learning to be alone for the first few weeks his biggest infraction was barking, never destruction. The barks got shorter every day until the day when he noticed he was going to be left alone, jumped on the couch, curled up and never made another noise. Again, he’s a quick learner.

Zeus would do best in a home without cats. His limited exposure and prey drive might be difficult to manage.

When walking on-leash he ‘heels’ but doesn't react to other dogs so long as his leader is leading. He will not pull or lead if not allowed to.

Zeus is a GREAT dog. He’s young and somebody is going to enjoy a great life with him.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process includes adoption application which can be completed at our website wagsmn.org. Current fees can also be accessed on our website. After reviewing your application, a meeting is scheduled between you and the pet in the foster’s home or a neutral dog friendly place. If there are any resident dogs in your home, it is required that the dogs meet at this time. After the meeting, a home visit is scheduled and, if everything goes well with the visit, the adoption is finalized. A home visit by one of our representatives is required prior to finalizing any adoption, and we must meet all members of the household where the pet will be living sometime during the adoption process. We reserve the right to refuse any applicant for any reason Adoption fee includes: vet exam(s), spay/neuter, de-worming, heartworm test (if 6 months of age or older), vaccinations, microchip, and FIV/FeLv testing (for cats only). Email is the best way to get a fast response (wagswhiskersmn@gmail.com).
