Hi, I’m Huncho!
I’m a thoughtful, independent guy who likes to do things on my own terms. I may not be overly affectionate right away, but I form deep bonds over time and enjoy being close to my people—quietly watching, following along, and keeping tabs on what’s going on. I’m definitely a bit of a shadow dog. Once I start to trust you, you’ll notice how closely I like to stay nearby and check in.
Inside the house, I’m fairly low-key and love a good nap (I’m a champion napper, actually), but don’t let that fool you—outside is where I really shine. Snow and cold weather are my jam! I love exploring, walking, and burrowing around in winter weather, and I’ll happily keep my person moving. I’m strong on leash and very alert, so continued leash and recall training will help me be my best self.
New places and changes can make me feel anxious at first, and I do best with a calm, predictable routine and a low-stimulation environment. With time, consistency, and patience, I’ve already shown I can settle, build confidence, and soften. I enjoy toys (I’m a bit of a toy connoisseur), window watching, walks, and simply being present with my people. I’m fully house trained, polite with food, tolerant of everyday noises, and happy to share space—even cuddling when I’m comfortable.
I’m looking for a home that understands me, respects my boundaries, and is committed to helping me feel safe and secure. If you give me the time I need, I promise I’ll reward you with loyalty, quiet companionship, and some truly adorable antics.
