My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My foster writes:
Desire & Cole are two cuddly friends looking for fun! They are very inquisitive and playful. They love to bird watch, eat and sleep, but a scratches are always welcome. They would do best in a quiet household, with a family who can engage and stimulate but let them roam.

Cole is a curious, sweet cat who rarely sits still. He's always up to something, whether it's looking out a window, playing by himself, spending time with Desire, or demanding pets. He is frequently chirping as he goes about his day. And when he's comfortable he sits with his back legs splayed out. Cole loves treats and being brushed.

What my friends at ACC say about me:

I have lived with cats in my previous home.

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets.

Cole is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. He is apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, he tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people, we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.

A volunteer writes: It's not always easy to find someone who sees you, really sees you, especially in a life that moves fast, but Cole and Desire (220276) have found each other and, seeing them cuddled together in their cubby, we're so happy they have. Brought to us from homes with many other cats, meeting new people isn't always at the top of their to-do list. They're a curious pair who would casually stroll toward me in the Free Roaming Room, choosing not to get particularly close, but, as we know, some cats don't always seek the company of people friends. They will allow some pets, but prefer to play, eat, and cuddle together. When Desire first came in, he would barely even touch the treats we offered in friendship. Staring at us in hopes it would help him to deduce our next move, he began to allow pets with the scratcher tool. Cole would sit with his paws out like a little frog, hopefully waiting for treats. Now they snuggle up together, confident in having done their part to make the Care Center a home as they wait for the next step of their journey to a forever home.
