My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Rexie — The Quiet Heart That’s Learning to Bloom 🖤

Location: Viroqua, WI
Age: ~1.5 years
Weight: ~43 lbs
Adoption Fee: $350
Breed: Listed as Australian Kelpie, but we think this girl has some Doberman sweetness in her, too.

Rexie is a soft, gentle soul who has already lived more life than most dogs ever should.
She came to us underweight and heartworm positive, but she has completed her treatment like the brave girl she is — and now she’s finally ready for her forever.

Rexie is calm, quiet, and easy to live with. She likes to be near her person without needing constant attention — the type of girl who just wants to be with you. She sleeps on a dog bed right next to her foster mom’s bed every night, and if invited, she’ll happily climb up for extra cuddles.

She is a certified cuddle-bug once she trusts you.
But that trust takes a little time.

Rexie has been through a lot, and she warms up slowly, especially with new people. But once she decides you are safe?
You become her person.
She will follow you with those soft eyes, lean her head into your hand, and let her heart rest knowing she is loved.
Walk on leash , but has been going in the acre fenced in pen since July .

In the Home
Lives with 7 other dogs of all shapes and sizes — no issues at all
Is respectful and gentle with cats — may be curious, but does not chase
Very calm, even-tempered, and easy-going
The only time she gets super excited is dinner time (food is her love language), and once she’s done eating, she melts right back into her calm self
Kennel trained but paces in it with anxiety wants to be near her people but does not destroy it .

Her Perfect Home

Rexie would do best with:
Someone patient and kind
A home that understands shy dogs bloom in quiet love, not pressure
Another friendly dog would be a bonus, but not required

Once she bonds, she will be your shadow, your softness, your steady little heart.

She doesn’t want loud.
She doesn’t want chaos.
She wants love that whispers “you’re safe now.”

Rexie’s Promise

Give her time, and she will:
• Curl her head under your hand
• Press her warm chest against yours
• Trust you completely
• And love you with a depth only rescued dogs seem to understand

If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal, deeply bonded companion, Rexie is waiting.
Her heart is soft.
Her spirit is resilient.
And her forever is out there. 🖤
