Foster Home Feedback

** No cats

10/27/25 Volunteer Feedback :I had the pleasure of chaperoning Eartha at the NPC Meet the Dogs event on Sunday. Eartha is the sweetest, friendliest little squish! She was so happy to meet everyone from the littles to the grandparents and everyone in between. Her zest for life is evident from her smile to her wiggly body. If you want a cuddle buddy, this gal is for you.
Her excitement translates to meeting other dogs, and she is working on polite greetings and calm interactions with other friends.
Eartha would love to meet you and share her smile!

8/21/25 Foster Feedback: Eartha has been doing well. She’s gotten much better about waiting by the door instead of trying to bolt.  While she is still quite food motivated, she can be redirected. We’ve been giving Eartha some dog-friendly vegetables as treats instead of higher-calorie options, which she really enjoys. She’s also improving on walks, though she will still pull if she sees another dog or critter.

5/8/25 Volunteer Feedback: I had the pleasure of taking Eartha on a shelter break for a couple of nights. She is such a well mannered dog at the shelter that its seems she sometimes gets forgotten about when it is time for volunteers to do extra work with the shelter dogs. She is a very relaxed dog in her kennel at the shelter.
Eartha  is such a cuddle bug and although she doesn't quite understand the personal space concept yet,  she will give you space when asked. She just loves to be by you when you are on the couch or in bed; while I worked, she chilled on the dog bed, couch or floor by me. Eartha  was a perfect office mate. She loved the bones, rams horn and stuffed cow - that remained intact the entire visit - she keeps herself busy when not napping. Eartha  was so well behaved that when I made food, she just watched me from the living room or came and laid on the floor. I let her explore freely and she was a perfect guest!
She is a wonderful walker and loved all the nature sightings (deer, ducks and snakes). She will pull a bit to get a better view but is redirected easily and reacts to training very well.

4/25/25 Building Volunteer Feedback: Eartha walks well on leash, loves to play fetch and get belly rubs.

** Eartha is Lyme-positive. This is a tick-borne illness, and she is currently being treated with Doxycycline.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

There is a pre-adoption application, reference check, and home visit required prior to adopting an animal. There is an adoption donation/fee applied to all dogs. This fee ranges from $100-150. These fees help cover the veterinary care we have provided for the animals while they wait for homes. The fee also helps pay for the food and other general care we provide for the dogs. You must be 21 yrs or older to adopt a dog and can not live in a an area where there are dog breed bans. We do adopt to homes outside on the area, but there are special requirements for out of state adopters.

Go meet their pets

We regularly have "Meet the Dogs!" events at the West Fargo PetSmart store. These events will give you the opportunity to meet some of the dogs we have available for adoption and to visit with our volunteers. See our website for schedule dates/times.
