My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Toby is an estimated 16-month-old 59 lb neutered male husky mix who was a stray intake to LACC Downey, an overcrowded open-intake shelter that regularly euthanizes for space. Toby was nervous on intake but opened up quickly, and was a perfect gentleman in playgroups with other dogs big and small. We tagged him with a committed foster and will share more about him as we get to know him in foster care.

Foster Updates:  Toby is a sweet, goofy boy who loves to cuddle! He is playful with other dogs and communicates well, often presenting with a play bow. Typical for his breed mix he requires a fair amount of exercise and enjoys walks as well as playing fetch, and running with other dogs. We are working on leash manners as he does pull, especially when he sees a squirrel or other small critters, but he is improving quickly, and we think he would make a great running companion with a bit of extra training. Toby loves toys including tennis balls, frisbees, and harder squeaky toys. He does suckle pillows to calm himself. I just got him a large lamb last night and he seems to fall asleep with that now and not go for our throw pillows! Toby is great in the car and would be a wonderful adventure companion for an active family in the Pacific Northwest.

Adoption Info: Toby's adoption fee is $575 which includes spay, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, negative heartworm test, vet visit and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization.

Animal History: Toby was a stray intake to Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control and red listed for space. He was pulled by our rescue partner ARF and transported to Seattle via Wiggle Butts arriving Sunday 04/06. He will be available for adoption once evaluated in foster care in the greater Seattle area.
