My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Who doesn't love a nice chunk of chocolate? I'm telling you Darius is just that! A sweet little treat in a fancy package! This handsome man is the sweetest combination of snuggle bug and playful pup! Darius may not have had the best upbringing. He was saved from a hoarding situation, where he just didn't get much socialization with people. As a result, he is unsure right at first, and may sniff you, move away and circle back while he figures it out. But, if you just give him a little bit to process the new humans, he will literally melt into you! He loves scritches, and to be with you wherever you are. He loves to play with toys, and is a big fan of other dogs! He has figured out housetraining, and though not a huge fan of being crated, he is fine once he goes in. He loves treats and is learning a few manners. He sleeps all night in his dog bed. His only fault- he has no idea how big and strong he is. His tail is in constant motion and can hurt when he's super excited- and if he's missed you big time- he really wants to greet you by jumping up. (We are working on that particular thing because he comes in hard with those hugs and if you aren't ready for them...Woof) He's getting there! So- if you are looking for a little chocolate to sweeten up your life- there is no need to look any further than this hunk! He's a lover and guaranteed to melt your heart!

Approximate Birthdate:  April 2023

Adoption Fee: $200

TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a TWO WEEK TRIAL.

Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.

For more information please fill out an application.

Additional adoption info

The first step to meet or adopt any of our animals is to fill out a no-commitment application online. This is normally followed up with a meeting between your family and the animal, and a home visit. Adoption fees range from $75 to $300. Please visit our website (TarasDream.org) for more information about our adoptable pet including bios, more photos, and each pet's adoption fee. If an animal is not listed on our website, they are no longer available for adoption.

More about this rescue

A non-profit 501C3, all volunteer group dedicated to helping homeless pets in the Greater Kansas City area. Our organization is the result of an alliance between several rescuers in the Kansas City region who share the same goal of ending animal suffering and homelessness.

Although we are foster home based, we also lease several kennels at a local boarding facility. Although this little "shelter" is allowing us to save many more lives, it is an added expense which is why we rely so heavily on generous donations from caring people in the community.

In addition to rescuing pets from difficult situations, we offer courtesy listings in Pet Finder, facilitate low-cost spays and neuterings, work on transfers and transports with existing rescue groups, help individuals and organizations promote, screen and educate potential adopters, fund raise to help pets with special needs, offer guidance and information about animal rescue, organize events, etc.
