Meet our super sweet senior girl named Cheerio! Cheerio is about 13.5 years old, and she ended up in our care after her elderly owner could no longer take care of herself, nor Cheerio. Cheerio is a very affectionate girl who comes out to greet us every time we enter our cat room. Her back legs are a bit stiff due to some muscle loss, but she still gets around very well and can hop in and out of her kennel that is about 1 ft high. She has learned to use the pet stairs to get on and off the couch. Cheerio still likes to play and will slowly trot after toys if you toss them for her. She is fine being picked up and carried around. She did receive regular vet care in her previous home and we do have those records. She uses her litterbox perfectly well. Cheerio is good with other cats and she would be fine with a calm dog that wouldn't knock her over.

*Cheerio does have Hyperthyroid. She has had this for a few years now. She must be kept on a prescription diet specifically for her thyroid. Her blood work shows that the food is working and she does not need pills at this time. She likes to eat the canned food mixed with hot water, and she will eat the dry food when it has had some time to soften in water.*

Appts to meet dogs can made to suit your schedule, please email/call for an appt. We do prefer to be contacted by email for adoption inquiries at Adopt@savingpawsct.org. You must be 21 years of age to adopt with valid ID. There is a short application for adoption, however if you do not own your home, or you own a condo, we must speak with your landlord or housing association giving permission to dogs/cats. Bully breed specific permission is required if you rent or own a condo. If you own your home, proof of home ownership is required. If there are other pets in the home they must be licensed (if a dog) and up to date on vaccinations. If there is another dog in the home a dog interaction must be done at the shelter before adoption, to ensure the safety and well being of all pets. All children in the home need to be declared and brought down to meet the animal.

An approved application does not guarantee an adoption. We do not hold animals for meet and greet appointments.

ALL ANIMALS ARE SPAYED AND NEUTERED BEFORE THEY GO HOME.
