1⃣ Health Condition
* Neutered.
* Microchipped and will be retested for heartworm in December 2025.
* As a side effect of heartworm, he may cough. Needs continuous care as he may get pneumotitis and bronchitis.
* Had surgery on the left leg with stage 3 diagnosis of dislocation of the patella. Needs constant care to avoid any overdoing after the surgery.
2⃣ Rescue Story
* Gwansik was living on a chain lead of about 1 meter long at the Gimje City Shelter. As the shelter was close to its maximum occupancy, Gwansik needed to be rescued to a safe place.
3⃣ Basic Information
* With People: Doesn’t approach strangers first, but gently sniffs them showing curiosity. Tries to protect his space but shows affection to be petted if he fully opens his heart. Follows familiar people showing his belly.
* With Dogs: If a new dog approaches him, he calmly says hello but doesn’t show much interest otherwise. Has no interest in canine friends during walks. Gets along well with dogs he’s familiar with.
* With Cats: Has no big interest in the cats he encounters on the streets.
* Separation Anxiety: Is an independent dog that is fine when left alone or when left with strangers or other dogs.
* Potty Training: Does well on potty pads with 100% accuracy recently. Can potty both indoors and outdoors very well. Has recently been frequently marking during walks.
* Hygiene: Gets nervous during baths but gets through it well. Loves being brushed! Is good with nail trims, but gets very excitable if he hears grinding noises so he hasn’t tried nail grinders yet. Is getting training to get accustomed to tooth brushing by using a finger tooth brush but still feels uncomfortable. Is on Omega-3 supplements because the fur is a little rough.
* Walks: Is curious about things so pulls a bit on the leash. Comes back to his handler when his name is called. Due to health reasons, he takes short walks twice or three times a week, around 10 minutes each. Because of that, he gets a bit excited when we go out.
* Car Sickness: Does not get car sick and does well even with long distance road trips!
* Has never had a bite.
* Sometimes whines when he feels in a hurry to have food. Barks when strangers visit home.
* Loves eating so much that when given food or treats, appeals by whining that he can't wait! Due to food obsession, he tends to dig or spin around excitedly before breakfast.
* May get surprised if touched suddenly, so care is needed.
* Indoor calling is pretty good, but it's still difficult to react outdoor calling.
