My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Buster! 🐾
I’m a 13-year-old Lab mix, and I’m still holding out hope for my forever family. 🥹
My life hasn’t been the easiest. I was found living in a kennel, neglected and abused. Just when I thought I was safe, I learned I was only days away from euthanasia. Thankfully, I was given a second chance, and I’m soaking up every moment of it. ✨
I’m a low-energy, gentle, laid-back guy who just wants to be near my person. Talk to me, and my tail will start wagging in big, happy circles. I love being petted, lounging next to you, playing with my toys, and snuggling into my cozy blankets. I’m a proud couch potato, and I’m also a little hard of hearing—but that just means I sleep extra soundly during our naps. 😌
When it comes to other dogs, I can be a little grumpy if they interrupt my cuddle time (a guy has to have his boundaries, right?). But it’s all just a little “grumble,” nothing serious—sometimes my playful foster siblings even tease me into joining their fun. I currently live peacefully with 10 other dogs, but I’d also be perfectly happy as your one-and-only getting all the attention.
What I’m dreaming of now is a quiet, loving retirement home where I can spend my days soaking up love, staying warm in my blankets, and enjoying the simple joys of life. Could that be with you?To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.

Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. As long as they need rescue, that's what is most important to us.

More about this rescue

Long Way Home was created to provide the last stop for animals displaced from their homes, deemed "unadoptable" by other rescues, or that need a level of care their previous owners or other shelters are unable or unwilling to provide.
