Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Buck is an 80-pound chocolate Lab mix with a calm, soulful presence and a heart of gold. Estimated to be around 4/5 years old, Buck abandoned and roaming and was saved just ahead of a dangerous winter freeze alongside two other dogs he had befriended. He is friendly and affectionate, and incredibly well-mannered. We suspect he lived a very closed off life as he is shy in new situations. He is ready to bloom and experiencing many firsts in his foster home.
Buck is neutered, fully vaccinated, and he has successfully completed heartworm treatment.
He’s house-trained and knows how to communicate when it’s time for a potty break—either by standing patiently at the door or gently nudging it.
Not one to bark unnecessarily, Buck is mostly quiet unless something catches his attention outside, like passersby or other dogs near the fence. Buck walks beautifully on a leash, enjoys leisurely strolls at any time of day, and is unfazed by other dogs, cats, or squirrels during walks. He’ll politely greet neighbors when invited but is otherwise content just enjoying the moment by your side.
He has a gentle interest in toys and will occasionally play a short round of fetch, though he's just as happy lounging nearby. Buck isn’t destructive. He doesn’t chew, dig, or get into trouble. His one mischievous moment? Snagging a bag of pill pockets off the counter—proof that he’s very treat motivated!
Buck thrives when he feels close to his person. He’s more comfortable with an open room than being crated and prefers not to be left alone for long. He gets along well with the resident cat but isn’t interested in playing or chasing. A true gentleman during mealtime, Buck doesn’t beg or seek human food.
He also rides wonderfully in the car and makes a calm, quiet travel companion. He’ll be the most loyal, loving companion, happy to be talked to, near you, and part of your world, while still giving you space when you need it.
