Take the Pet Home
This helps Loved At Last Dog Rescue with pet care costs.
Greetings world. They call me BABY BLUE and here is a bit about me:
Breed: Husky/Labrador Retriever mix
Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
Weight: 49 lbs
Height: 22 in
Country of origin: Republic of Georgia
Highlights: loyal, responsive, intelligent, sensitive eyes, affectionate, husky talker
This very loyal and responsive girl knows exactly what she likes and who!
Due to instability for rescue teams, I have an urgent need to reach a safe, forever home as soon as possible. Please do not delay my rescue mission!
As a small puppy, shivering in the cold, throwing myself at my rescuers' feet outside a bazaar was the ultimate strategy.
Intelligence took over, following them persistently from shop to shop, knowing they were the right people to help.
When they reached the car, paws were wrapped around their ankles! Vendors confirmed no known owner, so the rescue was immediate. Phew. (It is unknown what happened to the lower part of my tail).
Vision is keen, but those striking blue eyes are sensitive to light. Squinting happens in direct sunlight, so a pair of Rex Specs (doggie sunglasses) would be a great investment!
Loving to relax in a darkened room, and spending most time indoors is the preferred routine. A half-covered crate or a bed under a tablecloth-covered table is perfect for my indoor hideout. (Yes, could stand to lose a couple pounds, but getting plenty of treats from rescuers is hard to resist! Heeheee.)
Getting along with other dogs is fine, but having my own space is also essential.
This affectionate and intelligent girl would make a lovely companion for a solo owner or a couple! Expect a bit of husky drama: Being headstrong and protective of my area is common, but aggression is never an issue.
Instead, this girl turns into a dramatic vocal queen! (Example: yowl and complain until non-roommates leave the room). Bratty, I know, but it’s just part of my charm!

Energy level: Moderate - high
I get along with:
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Unsure, but probably not
Kids: Unsure, probably per rescuer, no video proof though
Fears: None observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.
TRAINING:
Leash training: Yes. Please be prepared to continue training.
House trained: Yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home.
Health notes:
I have sensitive eyes, squinting in the sun. Need a dark room to rest in the daytime, and shaded areas outside. I tend to get cold easily. Part of my tail is missing.
I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. But if you can find it in your heart to help with a donation towards my crate fee, the rescuers would be ever grateful.
Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.
Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.
Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.
Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.
The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.
Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee.
[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.
[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis.

As adopters of overseas dogs will be taking their dog home from the airport, they have a couple of weeks to decide if the dog is a fit.
