Hey, remember me? It’s Barkley.
It’s been one year since Christmas Eve 2025, the day I was rescued. I’ve been through a lot and suffered at the hands of humans, but I’m still here and still trying. I’m about two years old and have been in foster care with a wonderful family for the last six months. They’ve helped me so much, including getting me on medication to help ease my fears.
I do have some fears, and I’m extremely attached to my foster mom. I don’t really like people getting too close to her yet. I’ve been working with an amazing dog behaviorist and trainer who is helping me learn and grow so I can be adoptable and live without fear.
I’m neutered, up to date on all of my shots, crate trained (though I’d much rather be in your lap), and house trained. When I get really excited, I may have an accident, but I’m still learning. My trainer, Jessica Colletti, is teaching me that people aren’t bad and how to communicate when I’m afraid — and I’m doing wonderfully.
I’m now ready for my happily ever after. I’m looking for a pit bull–savvy family with time, patience, and understanding. I’d do best in a quiet home with lots of structure and activity, children 15 years or older, and ideally another confident dog.
Once I’m yours, the love I give will be like no other. I love zoomies, walks, playing ball or with sticks, chewing on a bone, and sitting in your lap while you watch the Eagles play. I’m doing great on leash and love yard time too.
