Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Senior blind dog needs a new home asap! Hamilton aka Hammie, is a loved family pet, but the family has a toddler with another on the way. As Hammie has gone blind, he has become fearful and reactive to sudden movements. The family tried to make it work, but it's just not practical. Toddlers will be toddlers, and that's a scary and unpredictable place for a blind senior dog. The family has made the difficult decision to let Hammie find a new home. Hamilton is a handsome older gentleman who deserves a nice quiet home to live out his golden years. Senior dogs have so much love to give, are house trained and don't have destructive habits like chewing or digging. Hammie has the best personality and just wants to cuddle and give love. Everyone who meets Hamilton fall immediately in love with him. He is a special boy that is very caring and affectionate.
From Hammie's family:
Hamilton is the sweetest lapdog who has had a rough go. He is incredibly sweet and gentle, but has become reactive to other dogs and small children due to fear from slowly developed blindness and aging.
He has well managed, stable IVDD and went blind over time due to retinal degeneration. All he wants to do is cuddle, go on walks (far away from other dogs), sunbathe, and be next to you or in your lap cuddling. He is what we call a velcro dog - he will follow his person/people like a little shadow. Is best for single person or couple, or family without small children (teens or above are fine) who can keep his environment pretty consistent.
Even thought Hammie is a senior, he's fairly healthy and has a lot of good years and love to give. If you can open your heart to this sweet boy, he will repay you with a lot of love and devotion. He's an easy dog to care for and will make a great addition to any home. If you can't help Hamilton, can you share his story? We need a foster or forever home in the Southern California area.
