My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Banjo and I could really use your help! You see, my human mom moved and couldn't take my brother, Boots, and I with her because a big dog that already has a bad reputation lives there. She asked SCC to find us a home where we could possibly be together, although we are not really bonded. I am about 6 1/2 years old and very healthy! Of the two of us, I would say I am the more outgoing - well, curious, adventurous or mischievous might be words you could use as well. My mom would tell you that I have learned the word 'No' well from hearing it often because I have been known to jump into cupboards to hide and let myself out. I am actually a very nice cat. Unlike a lot of cats, I actually don't mind nail trims. I have been on a wellness plan and so I have gotten use to the trips to the vet - and it isn't a wrestling match to get me into the carrier. I love being up high, like on cat trees and I like attention and chin scratches. I am not what you might call a 'lap-cat', but I do like to hang out with my people. I haven't been around kids and the older ones might be ok, but the younger ones can be a bit noisy. Dogs are a big no. Sometimes, when I see cats outside, I have been known to be a bit of an over-reactor - getting all puffed up and hissy. My brother even gets in on the act. So, maybe another cat might not be such a good idea either but slow introductions are always best. I have lived an indoor life and that suits me just fine. I am current on my vaccines, microchipped and very good with the litterbox. So, if you have room in your home and heart for one, or two lovable boys, fill out that online application and let's set up a meeting!!

More about this rescue

Founded in 1993, Second Chance Companions is a 501(c) 3 non-profit pet organization dedicated to helping animals in SW Washington and the Portland Metro area.

We are a humane, no-kill organization staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers.

Although we do not run an independent shelter, we feed, care for, adopt out, and spay & neuter as many animals as possible. In addition, we educate the community and are always seeking volunteers and resources that help us to accomplish our mission.

We have a small number of foster homes available, but also work with private owners who keep their pets while looking for homes for them.
