My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please come meet Briar!
Is there anyone out there willing to take a chance on a shy, sweet girl who just wants to be loved?

Briar is the last puppy left from her litter… and she’s been waiting since APRIL.

Briar is a 7.5 month-old, 30lb female Catahoula Leopard Dog mix, and we believe she’ll stay medium-sized when full grown. This stunning girl came to us as a tiny, terrified pup with her siblings all of whom have since found their forever homes. She’s watched every single one of them leave. She’s watched her shelter friends come and go. And she’s still here. Still waiting.

Briar was originally surrendered as a tiny little peanut with her siblings. They came from an accidental litter and had only ever known each other and one person in their earliest weeks. When they arrived, they were absolutely terrified of everything: people, new environments, even their own shadows. Life in the shelter was overwhelming. But Briar has worked SO hard to come out of her shell.

She’s come a long way from the frightened little girl who used to cower under your legs. Now, her silly, goofy side is shining through, especially when she’s with other dogs.

Briar lights up around other pups. She feels safer, braver, and more like a normal puppy when she’s with a doggy friend. That’s why she absolutely needs a home with another confident dog to help her continue learning that the world isn’t so scary.

While she’s still shy with new people, once she trusts you, she LOVES you. She’ll ask for belly rubs and trot beside you with a goofy smile. She’s super treat-motivated, has tons of playful energy, and would thrive with daily walks, playtime, or backyard zoomies. She’s still learning, still growing, and just needs someone to believe in her.

She won’t come around in a day, but once she chooses you, you’ll have her whole heart. She’s loyal, goofy, and oh-so-sweet. Winning her trust is one of the MOST rewarding feelings.

We’ve done all we can for Briar here at the shelter, but it’s time.
She needs to learn there’s more to life than a kennel.
She deserves to know what unconditional love looks like in a home of her own, with a family and a doggy sibling by her side.

Please, if you think you can save Briar from growing up in a shelter, reach out:
